Water management expert Najibullah Sadid reports a significant rise in the water level of Herat’s Pashdan Dam, predicting it may reach capacity in the coming days. The increase is attributed to recent rainfall and melting snow, offering relief after last year’s severe drought depleted the reservoir.
Sadid highlighted the dam’s critical role in flood prevention, groundwater recharge, and supporting Herat’s green belt. The replenishment of the dam is seen as a positive sign for local agriculture and environmental stability in the western region.
Simultaneously, Taliban officials announced rising water levels at the Kajaki Dam in Helmand, promising improved electricity supply for Helmand and Kandahar provinces. Widespread precipitation across Afghanistan in recent weeks has boosted hopes for a better water year.
