Al-Mirsad, a media outlet linked to Taliban intelligence, reports that an attack on an ISIS hideout in Pakistan’s Khyber Agency has resulted in 11 deaths. The assault, carried out by “unknown gunmen” in the Shanko area, targeted a group comprised largely of foreign nationals.
Sources indicate the militants had relocated to the area after their previous bases in Jabarmila were hit by drone strikes in November last year. Three other ISIS members were wounded in the raid, marking another blow to the group’s presence in the volatile border region.
The incident highlights the ongoing covert war involving ISIS-K elements along the Durand Line. While the attackers remain unidentified, the report from Taliban sources suggests a close monitoring of rival militant movements across the border.
