A new book titled “Divan-e Dara,” containing the biography and poems of Khwaja Mohammad Ismail Dara, was unveiled during a ceremony in Herat province. The publication aims to revive the legacy of this Sufi poet and mystic, who remained largely unknown to the broader public despite his literary significance.
Known as Sheikh Dara, the poet spent most of his life in the Ghoryan district, where he eventually passed away. Although he held a high spiritual status, his works had not achieved widespread fame until this recent effort to compile and publish them.
Cultural figures in Herat welcomed the release, viewing it as a vital step in preserving Afghanistan’s rich literary heritage. The book offers readers a chance to explore the mystical thoughts and artistic contributions of a poet who lived a quiet life of devotion.
