The Iranian Embassy in Kabul has announced a new round of border negotiations with Taliban officials, aiming to strengthen security along the shared frontier. Both sides described the mutual commitment to secure borders and combat smuggling as a “point of strength” in their bilateral relations.
This follows previous discussions held in September between Iranian Ambassador Alireza Bikdeli and the Taliban’s Minister of Borders, Norullah Noori. The Iranian delegation has pledged “continuous cooperation” to address border challenges and facilitate smoother operations.
Key topics on the agenda included improving transit routes, boosting trade, and preventing illegal crossings. These ongoing talks highlight the necessity for coordination to manage the extensive and often volatile border between the two nations.
