A relatively strong earthquake recently struck various parts of Afghanistan, sending tremors right through the capital city of Kabul. Local residents reported feeling two consecutive shocks, which caused significant panic and concern among the population.

According to regional reports, the strong tremors were also distinctly felt in the northern province of Balkh and surrounding areas. Authorities have not yet released official details regarding potential casualties or structural damages across the affected provinces.

The United States Geological Survey confirmed that the earthquake's epicenter was located along the rugged border region between Afghanistan and Tajikistan. The agency recorded the seismic event at a magnitude of 5.9 on the Richter scale, striking at a depth of 175 kilometers.
