The police command of the Taliban government in Baghlan province reported that an armed attack in Khinjan district left three people dead and four others injured. The incident took place during evening prayers inside a local mosque in the Chowkak area.
Taliban government officials attributed the tragic attack to family disputes. According to their statement, the violence erupted after a family member of the victims eloped with a married woman. The woman's relatives entered the mosque during prayers and opened fire on the congregation.
The injured individuals were immediately taken to the district hospital and later transferred to the provincial hospital for advanced medical treatment. Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the incident, while efforts to apprehend a third fleeing suspect are ongoing.
