The Taliban government has announced the commencement of a massive residential project named Lapis Lazuli in Balkh province. Private investors are contributing approximately $150 million to this development, which will feature 1,448 apartments.

During the inauguration ceremony in Mazar-i-Sharif, Abdul Ghani Baradar stated that the complex would create employment opportunities for around 7,000 individuals. Spanning 21 jeribs, the site will include commercial and health centers, green spaces, mosques, and recreational facilities.

While the Taliban government continues to promote infrastructure projects, economic experts and international bodies remain concerned about widespread poverty. The United Nations recently highlighted that over 22 million Afghan citizens are still in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.
