Zamir Kabulov, Russia's special presidential envoy for Afghanistan, stated that the recent military-technical cooperation agreement with the Taliban government serves as a foundational framework. This framework provides the necessary legal basis for signing new defense contracts in the future.
In an interview with Russian media, Kabulov explained that the immediate practical focus of this agreement is on repairing and restoring Soviet and Russian-made military equipment. Much of this hardware has been left behind in the country and is currently held by Afghan forces.
The Taliban government's defense minister recently signed the pact in Moscow, which sparked international reactions. However, officials insist the agreement is strictly for Afghanistan's defense and internal security, asserting it poses no threat to any other nation.
