Pakistan confirmed on Wednesday that it conducted airstrikes in eastern Afghanistan. Pakistani officials claim that twenty six members of the Tehrik i Taliban Pakistan were killed during these operations. The strikes were a direct response to recent militant attacks inside Pakistan.
The Pakistani Information Minister stated that these targeted strikes focused on militant hideouts in the border regions. He added that the intelligence based operations successfully destroyed multiple training centers and ammunition depots linked to the armed group.
However, the Taliban government reported that Pakistani fighter jets targeted residential areas in Kunar, Khost, and Paktika provinces. Their spokesperson announced that thirteen civilians lost their lives in the attacks, strongly condemning the action as a violation of Afghanistan sovereignty.
