Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Foreign Minister of the Taliban government, met with Hafizuddin Ahmed, the head of the Bangladesh Parliament, in Tehran. Their discussions primarily focused on developing bilateral trade relations and economic cooperation between Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
During the meeting, Muttaqi highlighted the significant trade potential and emphasized utilizing available opportunities for the economic growth of both nations. The Bangladesh Parliament head also described the expansion of commercial ties alongside Afghanistan's economic reconstruction as a valuable mutual opportunity.
This push for new trade partnerships comes as transit routes with Pakistan remain largely closed due to recent border tensions. The Taliban government has recently increased its focus on strengthening economic ties with Central Asian countries and other regional partners.
