The ninth Organization of Islamic Cooperation summit focusing on women's empowerment has concluded after two days of discussions in Pakistan. Notably, the major conference took place without any representation from Afghanistan or Afghan female delegates.
During the summit, OIC officials strongly emphasized the necessity of women's active participation in political, economic, and social spheres. They urged member states to translate their commitments regarding women's development and empowerment into practical and immediate actions.
The event occurred as Afghan women and girls face severe deprivations of basic rights like education and employment under the Taliban government. Participants reiterated that excluding women from the national development process makes meaningful progress entirely impossible.
