The United Nations has released a new report highlighting increased restrictions on Afghan media by the Taliban government. Between April and June, at least three journalists were arbitrarily detained.
According to the findings, the Taliban government took strict actions against at least nine different media outlets. Educational broadcasts on Radio Lavang were halted, and Radio Bamyan was temporarily shut down during this period.
Furthermore, Rah-e-Farda TV was suspended before being allowed to resume operations. Seven local radio stations in Kandahar and Ghazni provinces also stopped their work due to licensing issues, raising serious concerns about press freedom and the safety of journalists.
