Shahabuddin Delawar, the head of the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) under the Taliban government, has met with Richard Lindsay, the UK's Special Representative for Afghanistan. The main focus of their discussion was the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and the expansion of humanitarian aid.

According to a press release issued by the society, Mr. Delawar highlighted the difficult situation of families affected by natural disasters and Afghan migrants who have recently returned from neighboring countries. He emphasized that these families are in serious and urgent need of shelter, food and non-food items, and health services.

The head of the ARCS also provided information about the society's activities. He mentioned the health services at the society's cardiac hospital for children suffering from holes in the heart, vocational training programs in seven regional zones, and the treatment of mental health patients.

In the meeting, Mr. Delawar called on the United Kingdom for more extensive cooperation to address the needs of vulnerable people across Afghanistan. This request particularly focused on support for returnees and strengthening the health sector.

In response, according to the press release, the UK's Special Representative for Afghanistan pledged that his country would cooperate effectively with the Afghan Red Crescent Society in supporting returning migrants and in the health sectors.

This meeting takes place as concerns about a worsening humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan grow with the onset of winter, especially for the millions of people who require immediate assistance.
