The spokesman for the Taliban's police command in Parwan province has reported that six people died after a Saracha-type car plunged into a river in the Shinwari district.

Fazl-ur-Rahim Miskinyar, the police spokesman, said in a statement that the incident occurred around 5:30 AM on Thursday morning. The vehicle was traveling from Ghorband district towards Kabul.

According to Miskinyar, the car veered off the road in the "Bagh Afghan" area of Shinwari district and fell into the river below. This area is known for its dangerous and mountainous roads.

He confirmed that the bodies of four individuals, including the driver, have been recovered from the water. However, two children who were also passengers in the car are still missing, and it is feared they were swept away by the current.

Search and rescue efforts by local teams are ongoing to find the bodies of the two missing children.

Traffic accidents are a leading cause of death in Afghanistan. Substandard roads, reckless driving, and a lack of proper traffic signals are often cited as the main reasons for these fatal incidents.

This tragic event follows another traffic accident earlier today in Kandahar province, which resulted in 5 deaths and 16 injuries.
