Omar Daudzai, a prominent Afghan political figure and former interior minister, has announced his selection as the rotating head of the Leadership Council of the "National Forum for the Salvation of Afghanistan." This responsibility has been entrusted to him for a one-month term.

On Monday, November 2, Mr. Daudzai expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him by the members of the forum's Leadership Council. He described the role as "both a great honor and a heavy responsibility" towards his country and people, hoping to fulfill it properly with the consultation and cooperation of other members.

The selection of a rotating head is part of the rotational leadership structure within this anti-Taliban political coalition. According to the announced structure, the Leadership Council elects a rotating chair from among its members each month to oversee the coordination of affairs.

The National Forum for the Salvation of Afghanistan was announced on December 5, 2024, with the participation of several former jihadi leaders and senior officials from the previous republic. The coalition's stated goal is to form a common political stance against the Taliban government.

Well-known figures such as Ahmad Massoud, Atta Mohammad Noor, Abdul Rashid Dostum, Karim Khalili, Salahuddin Rabbani, Mohammad Mohaqiq, Abdul Rab Rasul Sayyaf, and Mohammad Yunus Qanuni are associated with this coalition. The council aims to coordinate various anti-Taliban political movements under a single umella.

On April 8, 2025, it was reported that Omar Daudzai had been chosen as the council's executive director, and with the addition of 34 new members, its membership grew to 71. The rotating chairmanship indicates an effort to maintain dynamism and participation in the leadership of this political movement.

Since the Taliban's return to power, several political coalitions have been formed by former government figures outside the country, but these efforts have yet to pose a serious challenge to the Taliban's rule within Afghanistan.
