Mohammad Yusuf Kalla, former Vice President of Indonesia and head of the country’s Council of Mosques, met with Taliban officials in Kabul and expressed Indonesia’s desire to invest in Afghanistan’s education and mining sectors.

Despite the Taliban’s ban on education and work for girls and women, Indonesia, as one of the largest Islamic countries, has repeatedly asked the Taliban to allow girls to be educated.

During the meeting, Mohammad Yusuf Kalla announced that the Indonesian government will provide educational opportunities for Afghan youth. Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister of the Taliban, welcomed Indonesia’s readiness to invest and said the Taliban will provide the necessary facilities.

Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s Foreign Minister, also emphasized expanding relations with Southeast Asian countries.
