The four-day Democratic National Convention kicked off today, Monday, August 19, in Chicago.
During this event, party politicians and activists will endorse Kamala Harris’s nomination for the upcoming presidential election. Harris, the current Vice President, became the Democratic nominee after Joe Biden withdrew last month.
Biden and Barack Obama will be among today’s speakers.
While the focus is on domestic issues, the Gaza war and related protests are expected to impact the convention.
The US presidential election is scheduled for November 5.
