The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that heavy snowfall and rain over the past two weeks have caused casualties and damage in the provinces of Kunar, Laghman, Nuristan, Faryab, and Baghlan.
According to OCHA’s report, 10 people have died due to the severe cold or traffic accidents caused by the snowfall during this period. In Faryab’s Kohistan district, the cold weather led to the death of two individuals, while in Baghlan’s Andarab district, three people lost their lives due to heavy snowfall and extreme cold.
OCHA also stated that the snowfall and rain have caused traffic accidents on various highways, with five people losing their lives in a traffic accident on the Kabul-Jalalabad highway.
