A women-led inclusive organization has announced that it will present a report on “the destructive effects of Taliban’s Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice law on women” to the UN Human Rights Council.
The organization stated on Wednesday, June 17, 2025, that this report has been prepared based on consultations with 200 Afghan women across 20 provinces.
According to the organization, the report will be presented on the sidelines of the 59th session of the Human Rights Council, and they have called for greater international community support for Afghan women.
This comes as the Taliban’s moral law has faced widespread domestic and international reactions.
Richard Bennett, the UN Human Rights Council’s Special Rapporteur for Afghanistan, has also presented his report on access to justice and protection of Afghan women at this session. It’s worth noting that more than ten countries have condemned human rights violations by the Taliban and called for holding the group accountable.
