The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Taliban group has announced that after discussions with the private sector, a specific schedule for exports at the Torkham border has been established.

According to the statement released on Thursday, August 22, 2025, during the fresh fruit and vegetable export season, 14 hours daily will be dedicated to exporting these products from Afghanistan to Pakistan, while a separate 10 hours have been allocated for other export items.
The ministry emphasized that this decision was made to facilitate the export process, prevent agricultural product waste, and create greater convenience for traders.

Previous measures to regulate exports at the Torkham border had included banning coal-carrying vehicles from the Torkham customs to prevent fruit spoilage and traffic congestion.

These measures come as Afghan traders’ export processes have faced numerous problems in recent years.

In the past two years alone, commercial goods have been stranded at the Torkham crossing dozens of times, causing widespread product spoilage and tens of millions of dollars in damages.

The Torkham-Peshawar route has been closed multiple times for various reasons, causing serious damage to trade between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
