A group of Afghan women living in Brazil, marking November 25—International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women—have condemned the “horrific” violence against Afghan women in the strongest terms.
They stressed that since the return of the Taliban group, violence against women has reached new heights, with girls deprived of education and women stripped of work and freedom.
The statement highlights that violence is not only present in the streets and society, but also suffocates women behind closed doors at home.
These women called for safe pathways and practical support for those fleeing domestic, social, and governmental violence.
They urged the world to end violence against Afghan women immediately and unconditionally, emphasizing that no government, culture, or force has the right to silence women.
The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women is observed every year on November 25.
