Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada has issued a new decree warning members against “mistrust and interference in each other’s work.
” Describing the current situation as a “great test,” he emphasized that the group can only sustain its rule through piety and by avoiding pride, oppression, and betrayal.
The 14-point decree comes amidst persistent reports of internal rifts among Taliban leadership. Akhundzada explicitly urged his subordinates to refrain from actions that sow discord and to respect the organizational hierarchy to maintain unity within their ranks.
Previously, Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani had also expressed concerns about the fragility of the current situation.
Analysts suggest these directives highlight the leadership’s growing anxiety over factionalism and internal power struggles regarding resources and authority within the group.
