Kabul Municipality representative Nematullah Barakzai has officially denied reports that district names are being translated from Dari to Pashto.
In a video message, he labeled viral images suggesting such changes as “fake” and confirmed signs remain trilingual.
Barakzai also dismissed stories regarding the construction or demolition involving a 100-year-old building as “lies and baseless.”
He clarified that specific place names are proper nouns and remain untranslated on official signage.
The Municipality urged citizens to ignore social media disinformation and rely on official channels.
