Over 80 Afghan and international human rights organizations have strongly protested the European Union's decision to invite Taliban government representatives to a migration summit in Brussels. Through an open letter, they emphasized that the group does not legitimately represent the public.

These organizations warned that any formal diplomatic engagement with current Kabul officials on European soil could be interpreted as implicit recognition. The signatories also expressed profound concern regarding proposed European policies aiming to forcibly deport rejected Afghan asylum seekers back to their unstable homeland.

The human rights coalitions urged the EU to suspend political interactions with the current administration. While the European Commission confirmed sending the invitation, the controversial move has provoked severe backlash and calls for cancellation from numerous members of the European Parliament.
