Teachers report that families, desperate to keep their children educated, are increasingly enrolling their daughters in these religious institutions. However, many students feel that madrasas cannot fully replace the comprehensive modern curriculum offered by traditional schools.
While the Taliban administration highlights the construction of thousands of new madrasas nationwide, young Afghan girls continue to hope for the reopening of regular schools and universities to pursue their dreams.
