Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Taliban's Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, visited Nuristan province today and met with flood victims, promising that aid would be delivered gradually.
Syed Karimi Hashimi, head of Afghanistan's Chamber of Commerce and Investment, also accompanied Baradar and donated six million Afghanis from the chamber and one million Afghanis of his own to flood victims.
Devastating floods hit Parun city and surrounding areas of Nuristan on July 19, killing 24 people, injuring 35, and causing $35 million in damages. Fresh flooding also struck Mandol district of Nuristan on Monday.
