Both the Afghanistan Freedom Front and the Afghanistan National Independence Front claimed responsibility for an attack on the military section of Kabul airport on Thursday evening, August 6, at 8:30 PM. The Freedom Front claimed it inflicted heavy damage on Taliban military installations.
The National Independence Front stated that its forces fired four rockets at Taliban military positions at Kabul airport, reportedly killing more than 10 Taliban members and wounding dozens more.
It remains unclear whether the two fronts carried out simultaneous but separate attacks or whether both are claiming responsibility for the same single attack. Taliban authorities have not yet responded to either claim.
